Problems with your internet connectivity?

We’ve seen a few internet connectivity problems recently that have turned out to have a really easy fix….uninstall a paid for security product!
Quite often laptops and new computers come with a security product with a free trial period, and once that is up they “lock” your computer and prevent access to the internet…so simply uninstall the product and go from there!

Microsoft phone scam…

We have heard for a few people falling for the Microsoft phone scam that is doing the rounds at the moment.
What happens is that somebody phones you, they know your name (to make you think it’s genuine) and tells you that they are from Microsoft and that your pc has a problem. They talk you through a few things and get you to give them remote access to your pc and then they try and fleece you for as much as they can!
If somebody calls you with this scam, or something similar, then please don’t fall for it. Put the phone down and forget about it! If you have fell for it though, the only foolproof cure is a complete wipe of your Windows installation, and then to re-install it, thus losing all your work etc. on the pc unless you have backed it all up! Please be warned!
