Backups
I get a lot of jobs where people have had hardware failure, and then I find that they have not backed up their precious data. There are many, many ways to do this - from cloud services to other means. I've invested in some hardware and software to allow me to backup your data, and in some cases actually recover your data. We can also show you several ways to help keep hold of your data, from a small external hard drive, usually USB to a full blown server solution!

Zoostorm from Argos
I've recently had to setup a few new PC's bought from Argos under the Zoostorm brand. Whilst not the best PC's around by a long shot, they're solid enough and the prices are very reasonable. I'd recommend them for people just wanting a nice basic system and nothing flashy - and they build them to order and then ship them which is great!

Website work and plenty to keep me busy…
I've recently had a lot of website work come through, great news but a fair bit of it is either free work (for mates) or on a voluntary basis. I'm glad that I've got work to keep me busy but sometimes wish I was making a bit more from it! The reason I'm posting here is that a lot of the time the people who are contacting me do so because they underestimate how much work keeping a website updated and relevant can be. WordPress sites – keep control!
I have noticed recently a few examples of people using design agencies and website developers who hack into Wordpress and/or hack the default themes to produce websites that you then have to go back to them to alter. A recent case involves a company website which runs on WP 3.5.1 and uses the theme twentyten and hacks the theme. This is a real no-no and is frowned upon because the website in question is now out of date and cannot be upgraded easily! Apart from the security aspects it just makes ...

Windows 8 downgrade to Windows 7
I've had a few people asking me about downgrading Windows 8 to Windows 7, and the simple answer is it's quite an expensive thing to do. There are no mechanisms for downgrading so you'd have to buy a full Windows 7 license, and then of course you'd have already paid for a Windows 8 license (as the cost is already factored into your purchase...)
So, okease be aware that if you want Windows 7 it's probably best to buy a system with Windows 7 already installed rather than Windows 8
